This is a Soviet Russian PPSh-41 machine gun which was originally manufactured in 1943 by the Vyatskie Polyany factory as indicated by the star within the shield marking on the top of the receiver with the year of manufacture on the top of the shroud forward of the trunnion. This factory was one of the major manufacturers of this machine gun during World War II. The year of manufacture is visible directly below this marking on the top of the receiver. One original 30-round curved stick magazine is included with this lot. Desirable original amnesty registration paperwork is also included with this lot. This gun was amnesty registered as a deactivated gun, and has been legally reactivated to be a “live” gun by “U.S. Armament Corp, Ephrata, PA”, and is so marked on the left side of the receiver below the rear sight. This gun came from a situation where the original amnesty registrant negotiated the sale of his items, received payment, and then passed away before BATF approved the transfers, so we have knowledge that this gun is, “as found” except for the reactivation work accomplished. This gun looks every bit a veteran of the Russian front. Wish it could talk! Electronic NFA registry indicates “RUSSIAN FEDERATION” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: Original Amnesty Registration paperwork. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fair to good with very little of the original finish remaining, exhibiting a gray and brown patina. Stock also exhibits rigorous combat use with dings and vintage repair using small dowels on the left side. Bore is shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Although over 5 million of these guns were manufactured in Soviet Russia, they are a rather scarce as a fully transferable machine gun in the National Firearms Act registry and a fine collector’s item as well as a great recreational machine gun for the machine gun enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-008
