According to the Colt Factory Archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .44 CLMR with a 20" barrel. It was nickel finished with wood stocks, and had a special notation, disassembled at time of shipment. It was shipped to Markt & Company, New York, New York, on December 17th, 1895. in a shipment of 10 guns. It has a two line barrel address and patent dates, "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED MAY 29 SEPT 18, 83 MAT 26, 85 JUNE 15, 86 FEB. 22, 87". It has a caliber designation on the left side of the barrel, "44 CAL". It has a post front sight, a carbine rear sight, and a Lyman folding peep sight. CONDITION: This gun has been completely cleaned of any finish. It is in the white. The stocks have been sanded. The bore is frosted and has well defined lands and grooves. The action works correctly.
