Extremely scarce and desirable Australian Owen machine gun in camouflage painted finish. One original 25 round magazine is included with this lot. The painted finish is a faithful reproduction of the way many of these guns were originally when in service. These guns were originally manufactured by “LYSAGHT” of Australia, and this specimen is so marked on right side of the lower receiver frame, along with “OWEN MK I – 43”. Serial number is on left side. This gun is a remanufactured gun. Electronic registry indicates manufacturer as “GOLDMAN, EDWARD DBA ELGBMD”. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent repainted finish on metal parts and buttstock upon remanufacture. Hard bakelite grips are extremely fine. Bore is dark and pitted but with strong rifling and very serviceable. Bolt is extremely fine and a plum color incidental to refinish of the hardened steel. Mechanics are crip and positive. The Owen machine gun looks unusual and unwieldy, but contrary to its appearance, it is one of the most comfortable and fun to shoot pistol caliber machine guns out there. There can be no doubt that the gravity assisted ejection of cases out of the bottom of the gun aids the reliability of this model. This cataloger has done a fair amount of shooting with this model over the years, and never had any problem with them. The Owen machine gun is a very popular yet unfortunately scarce gun in the United States. Don’t miss this opportunity to acquire one. You will enjoy taking it out to the range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-05-043.
