The MK-760 submachine guns were manufactured by MK Arms Inc. of Irvine, California, in the 1980s. MK Arms (Mike Ruplinger and Kenneth Domenick) established MK Arms to provide parts to service existing Smith and Wesson model 76 machine guns primarily in government and police department possession starting in 1980. Once the changeover to the H&K MP5 occurred in SEAL teams in the early 1980s, Mike Ruplinger and Duane Carlson started making complete guns for the civilian market. In the short time between the announcement of and enactment of the “Gun Owners Protection Act” on May 19, 1986, MK Arms conducted 24-hour production operations to make as many fully transferable MK-760s as possible. This example is marked "MK ARMS IC/ IRVINE. CA USA" on the left, with MK Arms "MKA" logo on the right. Ambidextrous selector is marked "SAFE", "SEMI", and "FULL". This is essentially a copy of the Smith and Wesson Model 76, with a formed checkered grip. This specimens serial number indicates it was fairly early in production. One 36-round stick magazine is included. Electronic NFA registry indicates "MK ARMS INC" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original smooth grey finish. Steel swing-out shoulder loop with black hard rubber covering and composite handgrip also near excellent. Magazine retains nearly all of its matte blue finish. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A nice range-ready example of a very popular and desirable entry-level machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-05-041.
