Attractive German World War II MG34 with mismatched Maget (cra) marked 1942 dated shroud. The receiver, buffer, top cover (Eichhorn, “cof”), and charging handle all have matching serial numbers, and the feed tray has faint matching electo-pencil number to these. Handgrip assembly has no discernable number. Other numbered parts are non-matching. Bipod has leg adjustment knob and is Nazi marked. Barrel in gun is a .308 barrel and so marked, and there is a spare feed tray with a .308 spacer and .308 muzzle cone included with this lot also. Other accessories include an original MG-34 transit chest, a spare feed shuttle, four original Nazi marked 8mm Mauser barrels in original WWII painted barrel carriers, a booster soaking can, a complete black leather gunners tools kit including bolt, wrench, AA rear sight, broken case extractor, lubricant can, hot barrel mitt, and 5 muzzle covers. An original leather sling, canvas action cover, and a 50-round WW2 marked non-disintegrating belt segment. Electronic NFA registry indicates "GERMANY" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine, with about 80% of original blue finish remaining, mostly thinning in places, with scattered light pitting and turning a brown and gray patina. Hand grip assembly has extremely fine grips. Unnumbered bakelight buttstock is a desirable early specimen with steel reinforcement tips at the toe and heel. Bore in gun is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt is also extremely fine. Bores of other barrels obscured by grease. Mechanics are crisp and smooth. This is a select-fire machine gun. The MG-34 needs no introduction to the WWII machine gun collector. It was the belt fed gun that was the staple of the German army from the start of WWII until 1942, when it started to be replaced (Afrika Corps first) with the MG-42. It is the absolutely iconic WWII milled steel machine gun, and no WWII German machine gun collection is complete without one. Finding one as well accessorized as this one is extraordinary. See other lots in this auction for more highly desirable MG-34 accessories. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-09-014.
