German MP-40 machine gun on “J WEBB” “TRINIDAD, COLO” registered receiver tube. Lower assembly manufactured by Steyr (bnz), and this gun has late production features throughout. Barrel has bakelite resting bar with two-flat-sided barrel nut with trunnion “pinched” into place. Markings match between receiver and lower assembly; lower assembly markings are longitudinal to the bore-line and indicate “44” manufacture. Bolt is non-matching. Four original 32-round magazines are included with this gun. The MP-40 has been often seen in various films over the years. There are numerous specimens registered for private ownership, but even more numerous are the collectors and shooters who desire to own one. The MP-40 is instantly recognizable and one of the most popular machine guns to take to the range for the shooting enthusiast. Relatively slow firing, easy to control, comfortable, and utilizing readily available ammunition. It also has the great benefit of being easy to field strip and clean. It is one of the best entry level machine guns. Electronic NFA Registry indicates “WEBB, JAMES F.” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine combination of original finish turning gray patina with some touch-up blue. Bakelite furnishings and grips are extremely fine with some light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. A fine gun exhibiting some interesting late-war production shortcuts. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-09-035.
