Pre-86 Dealer Sample MG-34 machine guns tend to run well, as they tend to be matching in their critical components. This gun has every indication of being a good running gun based upon its wear pattern, and also because the following parts are matching in serial number: receiver, shroud, bolt, top cover, feed tray, and handgrip assembly. These are the key parts. Barrel (easily changed), and other components are non-matching. The shroud is “dot 1945” (Waffenwerke Brunn) and the top cover is “pem” (correct sub-contractor for this vintage), and is a smooth gray finish as seen on late-war components. Electronic NFA registry indicates "IMPORTED NFA FIREARM" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine with about 75% of the original blue finish remaining, thinning in places, particularly at the rear of the shroud to a gray patina almost to bare metal, with some scratches here and there. This kind of wear to bluing indicates to this cataloger that this gun has seen use, and been fastidiously cleaned. This is not neglectful storage finish loss. No grind marks or wire wheel marks. Consider that for a moment. There are some chips and handling marks to the handgrip and butt assemblies. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt is also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp and smooth. This is a select-fire machine gun. When it comes to machined steel machine guns of WWII, the MG-34 is the most attractive and definitive belt-fed gun. Any MG-34 that still retains its key operating components matching and original is one to take notice of. For those of us who have been around this hobby for awhile, particularly active FFL/SOT dealers, we know that this would be a good piece to acquire. See other lots in this auction for highly desirable MG-34 accessories. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
