Very seldom encountered original tan painted German MG-34 Lafette tripod with original leather carrying straps. Also included is a desirable AA post with head and collar to fit the MG-34, as well as an original MG-34/42 ammo can with remnants of original tan paint. Tripod is dated “43” with maker code “eat” on top cover. Elevation gear is marked “bkh” and “1943”. Spent case chute present. Range plate is original with original rivets. Steel traverse scale, also original, and has never been removed. Original lubricant cap still present! This is not a post-war rebuild. CONDITION: Tripod paint coverage is over 90% with loss of paint to brown patina in places. Black leather covered pads are starting to fray, but remain serviceable, as do the brown leather carrying straps. AA shaft clearly not original to this tripod as it is steel and attracts a magnet, and has remnants of green paint. Collar on top of shaft a high-quality albeit older reproduction. Ammo can is original with very significant brown scale with remnant of original tan paint. Mechanics are smooth and positive. This cataloger cannot recall ever seeing a finer, more original tan painted Lafette 34 outside of a museum. This is a true opportunity for the advanced MG-34 collector or forward-thinking investor.
