During the mid-1960s, the Marine and Navy armories converted a number of Garand's to fire 7.62 NATO round; this is one such example. The frame is marked for Springfield and was made in March of 1944. The barrel is stamped "7.62mm", "SA11019451-5/65-5018-M" with DOD eagle. Rear sight is a post-War T-105 type. The left side of the walnut stock has the 1/2" DOD 3-star eagle cartouche as well as the proof P on wrist. The cut op-rod is stamped "D35382 SA". The lower receiver is stamped "D28291-32". The trigger guard is stamped "C46025 W.R.". Has green stenciled web sling. CONDITION. Excellent, with a well defined bore.
