It is uncommon for MG-34 guns to have British nitro proofs, but this one does on both receiver and “bnz 39” marked barrel. Receiver, top cover, and shroud are matching serial numbers. The shroud is “dot 1945” (Waffenwerke Brunn). No other matching parts. Slotted top cover retaining pin. The fact that both the receiver and barrel have nitro proofs indicates this barrel was in the gun when it was tested by the Brits. Buttstock is the shorter profile Israeli type and there are “Stars of David” on the shroud, as well as a hand-stamped serial number (no Nazi manufacturing codes or proofs) on the top cover. This gives us indicators of this gun's history. No selector/safety present, but these are readily available. This gun has a Norwegian blank adapter flasher hider. Regular flash hiders are readily available. This cataloger will offer that this gun was assembled in Israel, and then it found its way to Britain (or vice versa), and was then imported into the United States. Interestingly, the electronic NFA registry indicates "GERMAN" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original dull grey blue finish thinning at the high edges and contact points. Typical handling marks and dings to the grips and buttstock. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt is also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp and smooth. This is a select-fire machine gun. The British nitro profs are an indicator that this gun was “a running gun” as assembled. Pre-86 Dealer Sample MG-34 guns are always in demand. See other lots in this auction for highly desirable MG-34 accessories. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
