DSP. Maker's marked, "R. Tunica Electric St. Louis." A c. 1940s Chapman's Ice Cream double-sided porcelain neon sign with Chapman's inscribed bullnose, as well as two art deco porcelain attachments and an outstanding heart graphic. CONDITION: Side 1 has fair color and gloss with minor oxidation on the background of the lettering and graphic. The sign has multiple areas of porcelain loss on both the inner and outer field, most notably in the "Perfectly" lettering and heart graphic. The outer edge of the sign shows multiple areas of porcelain loss and significant surface staining. The porcelain attachment has significant fade, staining and porcelain loss (8.0). Side 2 has fair color and gloss, with slightly more oxidation on the background than the previous side, while the color in the lettering and graphic remain strong. There are a handful of large porcelain chips on the heart graphic and on the "M" of the word "Chapman's." The outer edges show areas of porcelain loss. The porcelain attachment shows significant fade. The bullnose has oxidation throughout the background, and minor oxidation in the Chapman's lettering. The piece has minor porcelain loss on the top and bottom of the outer edges. The can is in excellent condition, with no rust or rot. Sign has newly added electric, and lights green in the lettering and pink on the hearts.
