Circa 1934. A big game safari double rifle with nitro proofed 26” chopper lump blacked steel barrels. Barrels have been appropriately equipped with ejectors, filed concave quarter rib, dolls head extension, one standing leaf sight, two folding leaf sights (200 and 300 yards), smooth concave rib reading "450 / 400 NITRO EXPRESS 3" CASE", ramped filed blade front sight, and bottom rib with loop for sling. Rib fit with quick detach claw mount system and with Swarovski Habicht 1.25-4x24 scope. Right barrel reads "HARRISON & HUSSEY LTD". Left barrel reads "7 BURY STREET ST. JAMES'S LONDON ENGLAND". Bottom of barrels marked with serial number “3076” and “2201” ahead of lump. Bottoms of barrels stamped “L.C.”, "FLUSSTAHL – KRUPP-ESSEN-". Barrel flats marked "CORDITE 55-400 MAX", "400 EX", "BV", "NP". Gray silvered patina boxlock action with light border scroll reads "HARRISON & HUSSEY LTD". Action built with set disk strikers and third fastner. Water table with serial number and proofs. Action with blacked checkered top lever, safe slide, and smooth double triggers. “SAFE” in gold. Rifle is built with an auto safe. Double triggers protected by blacked border engraved trigger guard which extends to a full length bottom strap engraved with border scroll and matching serial number. Action bottom is blacked and with border scroll. Honey colored stock with checkered pistol hand grip has strong straight lines with a bit of fiddle back and marbling at butt. Stock belly with loop for sling, vacant sliver oval and dark orange 1” butt pad. Pistol grip with horn grip cap. Splinter forend with matched checkering, Anson push release with engraved escutcheon. Exterior gray silver forend metal border scrolls. Interior iron metal with matching serial number and is case color hardened. Rifle resides in a vintage oak and leather case with paper “STEPHEN GRANT & JOSEPH LANG LTD” trade label and with white (vacant) charge card. Case with oil bottle, single Heym snap cap, front sight hood(s), scope cover and key for case. Exterior case lid with round brass disk and is stamped above “PERCY T. CRUBB”. Accompanied by a large number of cast bullets for reloading, a set of dies, and Lyman mold. Further accompanied by copies of "The British Bore Rifle" and "The Double Rifle Primer", research on previous owners, and regulation targets. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels are excellent with light handling marks. Rifling is excellent. Scope is excellent. Action is excellent. Triggers and ejectors work well with snap cap. Stock with evidence of repair to grip. Forend is very good. Case is very good with use and storage markings. PROVENANCE: Cal Pappas Collection
CORRECTION: The barrels are reblued, the pad of newer vintage, and the grip repair was to repair a significant break through the wrist.
