Another fabulous offering for the World War II German machine gun collector/enthusiast. Take a close look at the original camouflage colors on this Lafette 34, and don’t overlook the beautiful and unquestionable original early commercial manufacturer’s markings, 1938 date, and eagle proofmarks on the top cover of this tripod. Also see the original eagle proofs on the alloy (elektron) parts. Very seldom are Lafette mounts like these offered for public sale not combined with a gun. Range plate is not present, but remnants of the rivets are present. This cataloger is somewhat suspicious of the paint on the elevation gear, and this brings the markings on that piece into question as well, but the attachment mounting hardware does not appear to have ever been messed with. Traverse scale is alloy and retains eagle proofs. Original lubricant cap still present! CONDITION: Tripod paint coverage is well over 90% with loss of paint to brown patina in places. The bolt box attached to this tripod has an overcoat of paint which is scaling away in chips. Brown leather pads are intact and in good serviceable condition. Mechanics are smooth and positive. What a fabulous tripod for the advanced MG-34 collector or forward-thinking investor. There are far more MG-34 guns out there than original Lafette 34 mounts, and early Lafette mounts like this one are rare within rare. JWK 2024-09-024.
