High condition, mismatched numbers, early original 100-round “C” drum for the Colt Model 1921 Thompson machine gun. Drum is marked “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORP, NEW YORK N.Y., U.S.A. PATENTED JULY 27 1920 DEC 7 1920 “NO 541” on main body with cover numbered 852. Original nickel rotor inside. These early drums were contracted through John’s Machine and Stamping Works Company. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish of drum is extremely fine original matte blue finish with fine coverage with some light brown patina and a slight ding at the 8 o’clock position on the body. When you consider these were subjected to field conditions, including military service, it is not uncommon to find mismatched covers. This is a fine drum for the Thompson collector. JWK 2024-09-042.
