This fast-firing .22 LR machine gun includes two pan magazines and one pan magazine driving mechanism. The American 180 utilizes a neat magazine system that incorporates a detachable hand-wound spring device to rotate the drum on a steel plate, which brings the rounds within the mag inline to feed into the gun. When these are fired, the sound has been likened to that of a sewing machine, with the spray of bullets likened to "a swarm of angry bees”. This gun has a horizontal foregrip and a sight mounting rail at top rear of the receiver. As a consequence of having its rotating pan mag on top of the receiver, reminiscent of the Russian DP-28, the sights of this machine gun are quite high. There is a knurled knob which allows for the removal of the barrel. This is a nice feature as it allows this gun to be disassembled for ease of transport in a very compact package and also makes the parts more accessible for cleaning. Cocking handle is on the left side, safety on the right side. Selector switch is a push-button reminiscent of the MP43/MP44. These guns were manufactured in both Utah, and later in Austria. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IMPORTED NFA FIREARM” as the manufacturer. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATF) is in the process of removing restrictions on what they call "GOVT Use Exception" previously Pre-86 Dealer Sample restricted machine guns. This is one such gun. Guns imported which were designated as Pre-86 Dealer Samples which fall into the special category of going immediately into the possession of Law Enforcement for a significant period of time are eligible to have their restrictions removed and become Fully Transferable to individuals. Manufacturer’s information such as, “Imported NFA Firearm” is not being changed incidental to this process. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine deep lustrous blued finish on barrel and black anodized finish on the aluminum parts with black hardcoat on upper part of the receiver. Feed-way block shows use and loss of finish to a gray patina as does some parts of the receiver. The other furnishings are an attractive wood-colored composite which have some light handling maarks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Magazines and winder have seen some use and this is a good indicator that this gun runs well. Mechanics are fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. These are very popular recreational machine guns as ammo is plentiful and clean-up is straightforward. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS UNRESTRICTED - FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-09-058.
