C. 1932. The box is marked "No. 252 King Features Syndicate 1932." The box has some slight creasing throughout. It looks like the bottom flap is replaced. The drum itself is in fantastic condition. The head and the face are beautiful, gleaming tin litho. There is very slight wear to one rim of the drum. It has the original back piece. The squeeze mechanism makes Popeye's arms go up and down to play the drum. The drum is marked "J. Chein & Co." and "Made in USA." Finding the box is exceedingly difficult.
