This is a Bren Mark II machine gun manufactured by Inglis of Canada in 1943 as indicated by the markings on the left side of the receiver. Including the barrel in the gun, there are three non-matching barrels included with this gun. 17 original magazines, one (chalk-marked “43”) steel magazine carrier, complete Bren gunner’s kit in canvas carrier, and canvas gun cover are included with this lot. Desirable original Bren tripod without AA extension leg is also included with this lot. Gunner's kit includes oil can, combination spanner/screwdriver tool, pull though cleaning tool, and brass lubrication canister. The Bren gun is generally accepted to be one of the best light to medium machine guns of World War II and is particularly popular with collectors and recreational shooting enthusiasts. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IGLIS” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent smooth grey original finish with some spots at the high edges where it is thinning to a grey patina. Wood is extremely fine to near excellent with some handling marks. Bores of all three barrels are extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. This is one of the finest condition specimens of its kind this cataloger has examined in a long time. It is uncommon to find WW2 Bren machine guns in this condition for sale and this is a wonderful opportunity for the advanced machine gun collector/shooter. Even this cataloger is tempted on this one!
