Very interesting, and one might say expedient, .45 ACP machine gun which bears a passing resemblance to the classic Thompson, even to the extent of using a repurposed Thompson M1A1 non-detachable shoulder stock. Rear sight is a peep sight. Investment casting lower assembly which still shows the sand casting marks, with a corresponding investment cast vertical foregrip with a perforated shroud. All of the Spitfire receivers were originally built, and marked, for semi-auto and these manufacturer’s markings and serial number are on the right side of receiver. This gun fires from an open bolt that cocks in the same manner as the M3A1 Grease gun. The bolt actually rides on two rails within the receiver. This gun takes standard US M3 Grease gun mags and four magazines are included with this lot. Electronic NFA registry indicates “SPITFIRE MFG CO” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish are very fine, deep lustrous blue finish on receiver tube and barrel with flat black finish on investment casting parts. Wooden buttstock is fine with some handling marks and hard rubber buttplate, and filler plate at sling swivel recess. This is a full-auto only machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-09-061.
