Manufactured in 1944 by Walther and subsequently modified post-War as a hunting rifle. Unusual nonthreaded barrel with hooded blade front sight and tangent rear. Forged receiver with factory optic rail and nonmatching bolt which is missing the hold open. Metal components have additional wiped-on finish. The red glue laminate stock has been slimmed in the back with a sculpted pistol grip, incise carved and painted buck design, inlaid NRA medallion, sling swivels, and a White Line recoil pad. Handguard appears unmolested. CONDITION: Good as modified. Metal components have an overall chemically turned brown patina with portions of original finish. As modified, stocks rate very good with some light scuffs and impressions. Buttpad has degraded and is largely crystalized. Dark bore with defined rifling. Magazine rates very good retaining the vast majority of its original painted finish. A good candidate for restoration.
