One of 75 Model MD select fire pistols manufactured in 1957, only 922 in total were produced from 1934 to 1960. Like other Spanish Star pistols of the period, the MD is heavily based on the Colt 1911, this example chambered in the potent .38 Super cartridge. Pistol is finished in lustrous polished blue with case hardened selector switch. Half moon front sight and drift adjustable rear. Slide engraved "LAW ENFORECEMENT ORDNANCE / ATHENS, GEORGIA" on the right side. Classic 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Lot includes both a 16 and a 32 shot magazine, as well as walnut stock holster numbered "144". The original numbers matching factory box with manual is also included. CONDITION: Very fine overall. The rich factory applied blue shows only mild high edge silvering and scattered marks. Grip checkering is crisp, a few points flattened. Very fine, bright bore with crisp, well defined rifling. Stock is very good with some light marks. Box shows some wear from storage, the apron separating at the corners. A very fine and scarce machine pistol. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS MACHINE GUN IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
