Receiver manufactured April 1944. Springfield barrel dated "?-52" with no visible drawing number as is correct for these rifles, having the number stamped on the top up the barrel above the wood line. Standard protected blade front sight and post war aperture rear. Rifle is mounted with a correct M84 scope serial number "6304". Springfield internals with relief cut op rod. Standard walnut stocks with faint crossed cannon cartouche and reproduction "MRT / 1 52" marked leather cheek piece. Rifle is accompanied by an M2 flash hider and a CMP letter recording this sale of this rifle as an M1D in 1997. According to Scott Duff, only around 3,000 to 4,000 of these rifles have been released making documented examples scarce. CONDITION: Excellent. Rifle retains nearly all of its arsenal parkerized finish with light handling and high edge silvering. Stocks are excellent as lightly sanded and reoiled. Very fine bright and crisp bore. ME of 1. TE reads under 2. Fine mechanics. Optic is mostly clear with some spotting. A nice, documented M1D.
