Externally very similar in outward appearance to the Russian PPSh-41 machine gun, this Yugoslavian Model 49/57, although it takes Russian PPSh magazines and drums, is actually quite different internally, and is unusual with a left side ejector port. An excellent informative video on this model gun is at https://www.forgottenweapons.com/yugoslavias-ppsh-lookalike-the-m49-57/. This Yugoslavian gun combines a lot of very good features from other guns and contains many milled steel parts as opposed to metal stampings. It features a quick release, easily removable barrel, a bolt handle that is removed from the side incidental to withdrawing the bolt out of the rear of the receiver tube, and has a small diameter mainspring on a removable shaft at the rear of receiver cup. The selector within the trigger guard is similar to that of the PPSh, but the safety is a large button just forward of the trigger guard. Two 35-round magazines and an original web sling are included with this lot. Tiny importers mark on right side of receiver near end cap. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IMPORTED NFA FIREARM” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent lustrous and matte blue refinish with visible matching numbers on receiver and barrel, and attractive Yugoslavian crest at top of receiver. Magazines are extremely fine. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. Quite a rare model in the United States, and a very well-made machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
