High-quality American made Smith & Wesson Model 76 machine gun with police property tag on left side of magazine well indicating “WASHOE COUNTY / NEVADA / 12833” as well as “U” prefix serial number. The standard civilian and law enforcement production guns were serialized with a "U" prefix U101 through U6100. There was a small Navy contract produced and delivered during the Vietnam War and all documented specimens have a "T" serial number prefix. Production of this model started in 1967 and ran through 1974. These guns exhibit the highest standards of fit and finish as to be expected from this maker. This is a select fire machine gun with an ambidextrous safety/selector, hard composite pistol grip with swing-out rubber covered shoulder loop. The firing characteristics are ergonomic, and this gun is both controllable and accurate. Ten 36 round magazines are included with this gun, of which two are Swedish K (They interchange with the S&W Model 76). Also included are two spare mainsprings, one spare barrel, a spare bolt, and a black soft carrying case which accommodates these parts. These guns are easily disassembled for cleaning, with good durability, and make for a great entry level machine gun. They are so much fun to shoot they appeal to even the most advanced machine gun enthusiast. Electronic NFA registry indicates, “SMITH AND WESSON”. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original matte blue finish with some light handling marks. Bores of both barrels are near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A great lot with valuable and difficult to find spares.
