Springfield Armory manufactured M1A machine gun assembled with a registered receiver and mostly U.S.G.I. surplus parts. One can clearly detect Department of Defense eagle cartouche on the Tru-oil refinished wood stock. This can be restored to a rough finish by using a blade. Original “U.S” marked bipod, two 20-round magazines, web sling, and original Springfield M1A cardboard box are included in this lot. "TRW" marked bolt assembly. Barrel is unmarked. Hard brown plastic composite handguard. Electronic NFA registry indicates “SHAMROCK FIREARMS RESTORATION” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent matte blue finish on metal of gun proper with more of a matte gray finish on bipod. Buttplate has a darker finish. Stock has been sanded and has a shiny finish. Box, magazines, and sling are in good serviceable condition. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. This is a select-fire machine gun. This gun fills a need in U.S. military rifle collections of the gun the U.S. government designed to be a box magazine version of the M1 Garand, and also being able to fulfill the role of the Browning automatic rifle in the late 1950s and into the 1960s. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-09-098.
