Jim Sornberger is a highly successful knife maker who specializes in gold quartz work, especially through his San Francisco style knives. This multiple inlay San Francisco style knife features 4 - 1/2" stainless steel blade marked "J. SORNBERGER / VOLCANO, CA.". The handle features three gold quartz inlays and four red moss agate inlays which are divided by gold line wire. The end of the handle is gold with the head of an eagle engraved on one side and the reverse side is engraved with a California bear and star. The knife is housed in its equally ornate scabbard that features a silver engraved bird and bell with a diamond patterned background that surrounds a raised 14K gold shield. Tip of sheath features a gold ball finial and the throat is a gold band with checkered patterned engraving. The knife is very clean overall with oxidation exhibited in some areas along with handling wear. Scabbard exhibits a light patina on silver areas. CONDITION: Very good.
