Production of K.43 rifles continued into the Spring of 1945 as the Third Reich was collapsing. Resources becoming increasingly scarce, Walther utilized some older, previously rejected parts including subcontracted "G.43" marked cosmetically milled receivers, including this example, in their early 1945 no letter production block. Rifle features blued finish, hooded blade front sight, tangent rear, and laminate stock with tool trap cupped butt plate. Rifle is also mounted with a wartime ddx code Dw ZF4 scope serial number "29472" on a eagle over "214" marked base. Scope retains leather eye covers, the strap is torn and the rear plug is stuck in the partially degraded rubber eye cup. Externally visible matching serial numbers observed on receiver and bolt carrier, the stock is not matching. Complete with a period cross hatch pattern leather sling. CONDITION: Very Good. Rifle retains the vast majority of its arsenal blue, some areas fading to patina including the barrel band and front sight base. Stocks are very good with only light marks. Strong, well defined bore with areas of abrasion and fouling. Fine mechanics. A handsome and scarce late war example.
