Very nice Fred Kase registered sideplate Model 1919A4 Browning air-cooled machine gun. Includes an M2 tripod with stirrup, Traverse and Elevation mechanism, and M1917 clinometer in leather case. A wooden ammunition box with a cloth belt complete with subcaliber belt inserts for .22 LR sub-caliber training and a G.I. can with approximately 200 steel cartridge holders for .22 LR. These military sub-caliber inserts fit into a .30 caliber cloth belt, and each steel cartridge holders accommodates a standard .22 LR rimfire cartridge. The cartridge holder fits into the belt insert so that this closely resembles loaded .30 caliber rounds in a belt. Once a gun is so equipped, with a .22 LR barrel and lightened bolt, one can fire one round at a time. A cost-saving measure over standard .30 caliber ammunition, while familiarizing troops undergoing training. No .22 barrel nor specialized .22 bolt is present with this lot. Three U.S.G.I steel ammo cans with approximately 100 steel links for .30-06 are also included with this lot. The Browning 1919A4 is a mainstay at recreational shooting events wherever they are held in the United States. They are reliable, fun to shoot, and in calibers people can get ammunition for. Parts are also readily available. Electronic NFA registry indicates “FORM 2 REGISTRATION” as the manufacturer. It also shows the model as "1974A4", which was Fred's designation for this model. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is extremely fine as refinished upon remanufacture with some brown patina in places. Bore in gun shows evidence of being fired, but should clean up very nicely. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a fully automatic only machine gun. Tripod is in need of a cleaning after years in storage, but is extremely fine with good mechanics. The belt with inserts is a rarely encountered item these days, and worthy of note.
