This is an especially attractive fluted jacket Vickers which is a combination of a Colt Model 1917 Vickers rear half with a broad arrow and “V.S.M.” marked front half, including early unarmored muzzle attachment. Currently in .303 British, but there is an 8mm Mauser barrel, a copper-washed barrel reworked to .30-06, another .30-06 barrel, a 7.62x54R barrel, two Australian .303 barrels, and two other .303 barrels. There are a total of three feed blocks and three locks, including what is in the gun, as follows: installed brass .303 feed block and lock. There is a steel 8mm (marked “7.9”) feed block with a lock that has an 8mm extractor (this will also work for .30-06), and there is a feed block that will accommodate .30-06. No feed block in 7.62mm Russian present, but these can be converted from a British .303 feed block. Other parts include a brass sight bracket, bulb-type booster shroud, 11mm aircraft gun top cover, short rear sight, feed shuttle slide, two lock springs, three backplate lower bolts, and a spare unarmored muzzle which has some slight internal bullet strike damage at the aperture. There is one green Vickers cloth belt with tabs, and one cloth belt without tabs present and a very attractive brass headed Turkish Vickers tripod with distinctive large brass range disk included with this lot. Also a steel water can. There is a reproduction fabric cover around the fluted water jacket. Right sideplate serial number and bottom on lock numbers match. Electronic NFA registry indicates “COLT” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished with extremely fine original wood handles on backplate. Brass feedblock is extremely fine to near excellent as is the lock. Bore in gun is near excellent, shiny and bright. Both .30-06 barrels are near excellent, shiny and bright. 8mm barrel is fine with mostly shiny rifling. 7.62 Russian barrel is a rework from a Maxim barrel and extremely fine, shiny and bright. One of the .303 barrels has dark and corroded chamber, but the other .303 barrels are fine. Tripod is near excellent and very clean. Belts are extremely fine and serviceable. This is a fully automatic only machine gun. In summary, one has the parts here to shoot this gun in .303, 8mm (with an appropriate booster aperture), or .30-06, and need only an appropriate feed shuttle and belt to be able to shoot this gun in 7.62 Russian. A wonderful ensemble for the recreational machine gun shooter/enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-12-44.
