After an importation ban was put on the books in 1989, Norinco continued exporting a sporting configuration version of the Chinese AK-47 until the Federal Assault Weapon Ban in 1994, the MAK-90. A quantity of leftover milled Polytech factory 386 rifles were also retrofitted to meet the stipulations as well, so that they still could be sold to the US. These scarce rifles retain much of the quality of the iconic Legend Series rifles despite their "MAK-90 SPORTER" designation. This Sportarms imported example features a rugged blued milled receiver marked on the right with the new "MAK-90 SPORTER" designation in electropencil, likely importer applied. Manufactured with an unthreaded barrel, hooded post front sight, and tangent rear. Standard wood forend and hand guard with a sporting style thumbhole Monte Carlo stock with rubber recoil pad. Externally visible numbers matching. No magazine present. CONDITION: Very good. Factory finish shows light scratching and handling throughout. Furniture finish has started to crackle with only light handling marks. Mirror bore. Fine mechanics.
