Originally designed for use by police and military forces, the SPAS 12 can be used as either a semi-automatic shotgun, or as a pump action, utilizing lower pressure rounds such as tear gas or bean bags, which may not cycle the semi-automatic action. Originally the "Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun", a civilian rollout recast it as the "Sporting Purpose Automatic Shotgun". When legislation banned the folding stock, Franchi swapped to a fixed stock, but the guns were eventually banned by name in the 1994 AWB; by the time of the sunset, the SPAS-12 has been discontinued in favor of the SPAS-15. Iconic profile with metal barrel shroud with sliding forearm, oversized safety, and folding sheet metal stock. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the parkerized finish, with some superficial marks from handling and storage. Sling loop at rear of receiver broken. Mechanically fine, bore with even oxidation. A scarce gun.
