Nicholas Beyer worked in Anneville Township which is now Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, from just after the Revolutionary War until at least 1815. Octagon barrel inscribed with large "N Beyer". Imported English lock with markings no longer visible. The brass furniture includes an engraved 4-piece patchbox with pierced pelican finial. Highly figured tiger maple stock with extensive relief and incised c-scrolls on left side of butt and around barrel tang and vacant silver oval-shaped wrist escutcheon. Complete with its original rope-burned wood ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a mostly grey patina with some light surface rust. Lock is a replacement. Stock very good with scattered marks from use and a couple slivers replaced around lock. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina.
