For another example, see plate 65.MM on page 115 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. Of standard configuration with round barrel and bayonet lug mounted on bottom. The banana lockplate has beveled edges and is marked "POTSDAMMAGAZ" in the center and "DSE" on the bevel below center of lockplate. This denotes that the musket was made under David Splitgerber at the Potsdam Arsenal. The brass furniture is faceted. The oval wrist escutcheon is inscribed "FR" for Frederick Rex(Frederick the Great (1740-1786)). The stock is of classic 18th century German form with a distinct buttstock of cows hoof form. Replaced iron ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina, some corrosion at breech. lock markings good. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and functions well, retains a grey patina. Stock shows scattered marks and bruises. Front triggerguard tang has screwhole with no corresponding hole in stock.
