This is a very rare Beretta Model 38A machine gun in original early configuration with bayonet and safety at trigger guard that blocks the rear fully-automatic trigger when engaged. Beretta 38/42 bolt in receiver, but 38A bolts can be acquired; both work fine. Manufactured in 1942, as dated on the top of the receiver “XX” indicates “1942”. Stock number is non-matching but is correct original configuration stock for this gun and likely is the stock on this gun when it was captured. This lot includes four original 40-round magazines and ten strippers clips with original loader, and a leather sling. Bolt is a Model 38/42 bolt (which works just fine), and the magazine well sliding door is not present. Electronic NFA registry indicates “BERETTA” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent as refinished over light scattered pitting. Bayonet blade and charging handle block are a plum color. Wood is fine to extremely fine with typical dings and handling marks. Leather sling is near excellent. Magazines also have near excellent refinish with very minimal marks underneath the finish. Bore near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. The Beretta 38A machine gun was one of the best pistol caliber machine guns of WWII. Reliable, accurate, and controllable.
