The factory letter states this gun was shipped on November 30th, 1877, as a blued .44 rimfire with wood grips to Schuyler, Hartley, and Graham in New York City. This gun has the correct italic barrel and length. Frame has the second type patent two line stamp. The trigger guard bow is stamped ".44 Cal". The cylinder serial number is not visible. Under the ejector housing, there is no stud and the threads are stripped for the retaining screw on housing. Only a number 6 is visible under barrel with what looks like a T and very little finish under housing. The gun left the factory blued and now retains traces of period nickel. The grips are period aftermarket one piece ivory. Gun has proper donut head ejector rod. CONDITION. Good. All legends are readable and correct for era. The gun has a good loading half cock. Action has all four clicks. Finish shows flashes of scattered nickel. Balance is a smooth grey brown patina with salt and pepper texture. Muzzle is rounded from holster. Grips show much aging. Most of these .44 rimfires went to Mexico and show hard use; this one is no exception. The bore is sharp. Gun has a great Western look.
