According to the Colt Factory Archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .36 Caliber with a 6 - 1/2" barrel and blue finish. Stocks not listed. Ship to address not listed. It was shipped on July 7, 1863. So it is a Civil War era gun. It comes in a period flap holster and appears to have been with this holster most of its life. Matching serial numbers observed on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and arbor. CONDITION: This gun retains lots of the original factory applied blue finish. Most of the finish loss is on the cylinder and barrel. Lots of case color remains on the frame, hammer and loading lever. Traces of silver remain on the trigger guard and backstrap. Good bore with well defined lands and grooves. Most of the original varnish remains on the well fitting grips. The action works correctly. It locks up tight and indexes fine. The holster is in good condition showing leather crazing. The plug at the bottom of the holster has blown out. Most of the stitching is present. A better than average 62 Police.
