Earliest known model of a Colt Walker powder flask. This flask is in the exact configuration as the one shown in figure 823 on page 353 of "THE POWDER FLASK BOOK" by Ray Riling. On page 351, Riling states "We consider this specimen as the first of the true Walker flasks and as such it rates as very scarce." Features include brass construction with early spout and triangular carry rings. Front of body of flask has a raised and highly detailed panoply including a halberd, flags on poles, pikes, swords, stacked cannonballs, cannon, mortar, drum, and finally the classic 2 crossed Paterson rifles and Paterson revolvers with large ribbon reading "COLTS (small star) PATENT". CONDITION: Very good, with brass turned a mellow patina and traces of a protective lacquer layer on top. Left side has a longitudinal split running from cap to sling mount. A very rare and early powder flask that would be a fine addition to an early Colt or Colt accessory collection.
