These early pre-1906 carboard signs were shipped to dealers packed in cases of shotgun shells to advertise the ammunition. Of the known designs, "The Hunters' Choice" is considered the rarest and most desirable. It features a flock of 5 quail executed in full color. The red Winchester trademark is found at the top with "FACTORY LOADED / SHOTGUN SHELLS". The bottom reads "THE HUNTERS' CHOICE." in bold red outlined black lettering above "WE CARRY A FULL STOCK." A pair of factory punched holes present at the top for hanging this example with period thread hanger. It is professionally framed and matted. The sign itself measures approximately 8 - 3/8" x 12 - 1/4". Frame is approximately 14 - 3/4" x 19". This rather diminutive size makes these desirable signs easier to display than the larger Winchester posters while still having great color and graphics. CONDITION: Fine. Colors remain bright and attractive. A few minor scuffs and creases present, notably at the upper corners. This piece displays very well and would make a tasteful addition to the collectors home or office.
