With serialization beginning at 700,000, this very early production pistol is numbered 700603 and is circa late 1940 or early 1941. Most notably, the first 1,345 or so frames, including this pistol, feature lower placement of the grip screws. The first 500 gun Kriegsmarine contract for the HSC pistol was fulfilled with these "low screw" guns, the remainder sold commercially. This example bears a Kriegsmarine eagle over "M" property marking on the front strap. Finished in polished blue with a matted sight trough. Early left-hand slide legend without decorative lines. Standard early 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Matching numbers observed on frame, slide, and barrel. 5 total magazines of several variations are included, including several early production examples correct for this pistol. CONDITION: Fine. Pistol retains the vast majority of its factory blue with some expected mild high edgewear and thinning. The rear portion of the slide has begun drifting slightly to plum. Grips show impressions and moderate wear throughout with some minor chipping around the left screw escutcheon. Bore is bright and strong with well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. A very scarce WWII German navy pistol variant with few examples known.
