With classic Berks County architecture, attributes, carving, and patchbox. Deeply rifled octagon barrel. The lock is a French lock and is inscribed "Charleville" in the center. The Berks County brass furniture includes a 4-piece patchbox. The three silver inlays include a teardrop on the toe, a vacant silver oval on wrist and star above cheekpiece. Tiger maple stock of Roman nose form with relief carved c-scrolls on left side of buttstock. Relief panels around lock, sideplate, and ramrod entry ferrule. Relief scrolls around barrel tang and partially visible behind ramrod entry ferrule. This rifle is of the style and has the carving that has been attributed to Wolfgang Haga. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark brown patina. Lock has a dark pitted patina except for altered front tang and is in its original flintlock configuration. Lock is a replacement. Brass retains a mustard patina. Stock shows scattered signs of age and use. Some slivers replaced around lock. Ramrod about 5" short.
