Octagon barrel. Flat stamp-engraved percussion lockplate stamped "JAS GOLCHER" in center. The rifle has 17 silver inlays, including an eagle above the cheekpiece. The engraved brass furniture includes an engraved and pierced four-piece patchbox, engraved toeplate, and an engraved sideplate. Figured tiger maple stock with incised carving and fluting between inlays on both sides of forend. Relief carved scrolls carved on left side behind cheekpiece. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark patina with pitting throughout. Lock also pitted with dark patina, cock screw and bolster screw modern, and hammer does not hold. Brass and silver retain dark patinas. Stock shows scattered marks from use, age cracks, and one old repair to sliver on left side of forend toward muzzle. Stock has been refinished.
