Rifled octagon barrel inscribed in rocker-panel engraving "+ Dan'l Meylan +" on top flat. Blacksmith-made lockplate with molding at tail. Double set triggers. The brass furniture includes an engraved 4-piece patchbox with 5 piercings. Sideplate also engraved with rocker-panel scrolls. Engraved silver star and oval wrist escutcheon with vacant inscription. The highly figured tiger maple stock is of Berks County form with Roman nose architecture. Unusual relief carved scrolls on left side of buttstock. CONDITION: Barrel retains a grey patina with yellowed lacquer over it. Lock appears to be a good professional reconversion. Brass retains a dark mustard patina. Silver has a mustard patina due to coat of old yellowed lacquer. Stock shows scattered cracks, marks from use and signs of age. Rope burn decorated ramrod appears to be its original.
