An attractive bowie knife by Michael Collins that commemorates the Entebbe Raid, an Israeli counter-terrorist mission in Uganda that was launched as a result of the hijacking of Air France Flight 139. The knife features a mirror polished clip point blade. The obverse ricasso is marked "M. Collins" and the reverse is decorated with a Magen David. The knife features a thick crossguard with engraving and the reverse exhibits the word "THUNDERBOLT" for the codename of the Entebbe Raid, Operation Thunderbolt. The handle exhibits engraved Jewish motifs on the ferrule, pommel, and tang. The tang features engraved phrases on each side including "We will not negotiate with terrorists" and "Entebbe, Uganda 1976". The coffin handle features ivory scales and each side is decorated with motifs regarding the raid, as the obverse features a map of the Middle East and the reverse features a scene from the raid. The knife is housed in a leather scabbard with engraved silver mounts. The mounts exhibit scattered blemishes and a pleasing patina. The knife is very clean overall with a bright blade that exhibits light blemishes with minor handling wear to the handle. CONDITION: Very good.
