Manufactured circa 1865 at the close of the Civil War, the Henry's popularity expanded beyond the battlefield into the burgeoning Western frontier. The standard blued octagon barrel of this example is stamped on the top flat with the correct large size 2-line address. Fitted with tapered German silver blade front sight and late 900 yard graduated ladder rear sight with retaining screw. Full length magazine tube with large brass follower and forward sling bar with ring. Iconic later contour brass frame stamped on the lower tang with Oliver Winchester's "W" inspection stamp. Walnut stock of late form with a mildly obtuse comb angle. Matching serial number stamped in the stock channel. Fitted with an iron sling swivel and brass tool trap crescent butt plate, the matching serial number stamped on the underside. CONDITION: Very Good. Barrel has drifted to an overall plum brown patina with some older oxidation spotting. Frame has a very pleasant mellow mustard patina with a few areas of darkness. Stock has been lightly cleaned, a few impressions and other bruises remaining. Very strong, well defined bore with frosting and other imperfections. Fine mechanics.
