This Colt exhibits the Thuer conversion, which was performed by cutting the rear portion of the cylinder away and installing a conversion center fire breech ring with the script "E" for ejector. The loading lever cut has not been reamed, but the drilled out threaded area in loading lever for the Thuer priming punch is present. Colt cylinders and breech rings were offered by Godfrey Company of New York to gunsmiths and the general public during the era, and this conversion was most likely done outside the factory as there are no assembly numbers on ring or the face of cylinder, no scooped barrel lug channel, and most importantly, no hardened disc as used in factory Thuer revolvers on the hammer. All numbers on match. This is a New York example as stamped within the Colt legend on barrel. The rebated cylinder shows no sign of any Naval scene roll die stamp. All other features are standard with a brass trigger guard, iron back strap, shoulder cut on left cylinder fence, and fit with lovely one piece ivory grips. CONDITION: Very good. The four screws visible on left side retain nearly all the bright blue and given the balance of this gun is a smooth homogenous patina, the correct type screws were replaced. All legends are legible. The action works correctly. The bore is very well defined but does show some abrasions.
