Lot consists of a pair of Colt 1878 revolvers. Both were manufactured in 1882 and are London guns with Pall Mall one line barrel address, British proof marks, blue finish, Colt gutta percha grips, and lanyard rings. (A) Assembly number 393 inside frame and on gate, stamped "E" inside for England, last two numbers 16 on back of cylinder. "Cal. .455" stamped on trigger bow. Left side is engraved "Frank James", meaning unknown. The one line barrel address is legible. CONDITION: This gun retains about 70% bright blue finish with patina filling the balance. Grips are excellent but not numbered. Action is fine. Bore is bright. (B) Assembly number 392 on frame and gate, stamped "E" inside for England, ".455 Cal" stamped on trigger bow, and last two digits of serial number on back of cylinder. CONDITION: Very good. Retains about 30% bright blue in protected areas with balance a smooth patina. Barrel legend is legible. Grips are not numbered and left panel is cracked. Trigger spring is broken so hammer will not release. Bore is well defined with some frosting.
