Circa 1969 per serial number. Silver nitrate reveals no salt on forearm, but buttpad refuses removal and cannot be tested; given some oxidation at action, this cataloger believes this gun is likely salt wood. Bradley style bead front sight with white mid bead on a vent rib with anti-glare matting. Typical legends for a Belgian-made browning with Special Steel 12 gauge barrels and 2 - 3/4" chamber. Browning choke codes are both "**$" for Improved Cylinder in both barrels. Three-piece forearm with flared nose and recessed finger groove. Boxlock action engraved in the typical Diana style with five pheasants on the left side in a wooded scene, two grouse in flight on the bottom, a trio of ringnecks flying out of a marsh on the right, and a pair of alerting hares on the short trigger guard. Game scene vignettes are supported by well cut and shaded acanthus scroll, and both sides of the boxlock are signed by Marechal. Non-automatic safety with "S" ahead of slide, "O" and "U" abutting for selector positions. Square knob feather crotch walnut stock with sidepanels, modified point pattern checkering about the wrist, and a Browning waffle recoil pad with black and white line spacers. In a Browning luggage case. CONDITION: Barrels with the vast majority of their bluing, with some scattered handling marks and silvering along barrels where forearm reciprocates. Action is very good, with some oxidation to edges commonly seen on salt guns, particularly on right side. Stocks very good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine bore with some carbon fouling and light frosting, ejectors are a little weak but in time. Case fine with typical distress and rubs.
