Dated 1847. The case color breech is stamped "US", "S NORTH", and "MIDDLtn CONN 1847". The left side of the one piece walnut stock has the inspector cartouches "GWR" for George Hamlin and "WAT" for William Thornton. The right side barrel breech is also stamped "GWR". This carbine features iron mounts finished in factory brown lacquer, with the exception of the case color breech. CONDITION: Excellent. About as close to un-issued as one might hope to find. Retains nearly all the brown lacquer with some minor handling marks and light rubs only. The case color pattern is still visible on the breech. The side lever retains nearly all of the bright peacock niter blue. The stock is superb with raised grain and some minor impressions. Even the butt plate retains nearly all the brown lacquer. One of the best examples extant.
