This is a Type 3 and dated 1838 that was made from 1837-1840 at the Harpers Ferry plant. This model was first produced in 1817. The case colored block is stamped "J.H. HALL H. FERRY US 1838". Standard features include a brown lacquered factory finish, a nearly full length dark American walnut stock, iron mounts, three barrel bands, and sling swivels. CONDITION: Excellent. Almost all the brown lacquer is intact with just some scattered handling marks and a few rubs. The dark case color action breech is a soft patterned grey. Legends are sharp as new. The stock is excellent with minor scattered dings and impressions and the wood grain is still raised. The bore is bright. This rifle has seen little to no use and is the best example of this rifle this writer has ever seen.
