This revolver is the 2025 auction gun to support the Firearms Engravers Guild of America, showcasing the work of some of the finest engravers working today. Organized by Marianne Kelley, this gun was engraved by Mike Dubber, Barry Lee Hands, and Brian Powley, with finishing by John Powers. John Powers executed the bluing in a deep, rich finish, with nitre bluing applied to the screws, trigger, hammer, and cylinder release. Mike Dubber adorned the barrel and frame with a gorgeous, almost three-dimensional acanthus scroll set against a finely executed punch-dot background, achieving approximately D-class coverage. His work extends to the underside of the barrel, where he meticulously engraved "FEGA 2025," as well as an absolutely striking Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame, rendered with phenomenal bulino detail that brings the design to life. Brian Powley contributed his artistry by applying elegant gold borders and gold embellishments to the original factory lettering on the barrel in lustrous 24-karat gold, adding a refined contrast to the deep blued finish. Barry Lee Hands engraved the cylinder with sprays of well-cut acanthus florals on a punch-dot background over each chamber. The revolver is fitted with giraffe bone grips featuring deep-set Colt medallions. It is housed in a custom-made case with "COLT" on the lid in contrasting wood colors. The lid is laser-engraved with FEGA’s emblem and a listing of the artisans who worked on this firearm. Accompanied by a FEGA letter signed by those involved, further indicating that the gun was manufactured in 1974. CONDITION: Excellent, as custom embellished. Some extremely minor handling marks and some surface spotting, mostly visible on the gold. Mechanically fine, with a bore featuring strong rifling and some very minor frosting. Grips are loose. Case is excellent with a repair at joint at back left. A fabulous gun.
