Third model manufactured circa 1872. Standard carbine length blued round barrel with 2-line address and patent marking. Full length magazine tube retained by a pair of barrel bands, the forward band with integral blade front sight. Rear sight is a traditional carbine flip sight graduated to 500 yards. Plain walnut stocks with a brass rifle style trapdoor butt plate. Matching numbers observed stamped in the stock channel and underside of the butt plate. CONDITION: Very Fine. Barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory applied blue, starting to thin on the underside. barrel bands have drifted to a gray patina. Frame exhibits a rich, golden patina showing little period use. Strong traces of color are present on the protected areas of the lever, the balance a brown patina. Hammer has muted case colors. Loading gate nitre blue remains brilliant showing only minor wear. Stocks remain proud to metal with some scattered light impressions. Excellent bore. Crisp mechanics. Internals show little evidence of use. An outstanding '66 carbine.
